My NYC Google map is nearing 147 saved places, which is modest considering the Japan map has 168.
Mostly food and coffee, with a healthy dose of shopping, these are some of the new(ish) places on my radar. Enjoy.

@daenewyork on Instagram: ”☆ MUGWORT LATTÉ ☆ Often called “miracle mugwort”, Korean mugwort (쑥) is rich in vitamin E, antioxidants, and is antibacterial, anti-fungal and great for skin and menstrual cramps. Recently, you will find mugwort as the star ingredient in a lot of K-beauty finds, but traditionally mugwort is enjoyed via teas or even warm baths. Come try our mugwort lattes, warm or iced, with your choice of milk :)” January 12, 2024
Aka the “no influencers” cafe. Part design shop, part cafe, part wine bar, it’s a great spot to grab a glass of something and kick back with a book. Don’t forget about their no photo policy (which I quite enjoy).
A new Thai restaurant in Brooklyn that’s been described as “exceptional” and unconventional. It’s walk-in only, but Bar Bruno is across the street for a quick cocktail while you wait.

Gator on Instagram: “Our opening menu highlights our take on modern americana with a touch of nostalgia. Giving the classics a modern edge, our focus is local products and sustainable practices. You’ll find creative ways throughout our menu that we’ve re-examined how we can turn byproducts and “waste” into thoughtful additions to our menu!”

“Cheeseburger topped with tempura fried mushroom” is what initially caught my eye, but I stayed tuned in for the gator-themed wallpaper and assured date night vibes.

Do I need more homewares? No. Am I still going to visit Kinto’s new New York location? Yes. Think Japanese mugs and lifestyle products that are basic and beautiful.

@naturalselectionny on Instagram: “Meet The Makers: @martabonillam “As soon as I got to know and try clay, I realised that it was material I wanted to keep experimenting with, I felt a connection with it and became obsessed with creating different shapes and objects.’~ Based in and inspired by Barcelona, Marta’s work is a pillar of ceramics and her skill a masterclass. It’s an honor to carry and display a few pieces, and for anyone unfamiliar be prepared to witness her craftsmanship in person.” January 12, 2024
Only go here if you’re prepared to spend. They curate hand-crafted home goods and lifestyle and fashion items that spotlight the maker. It feels hard to walk out of here empty handed.

A new all-day cafe serving up coffee, great music, small plates, and natural wine. Yes please.

Comme Si on Instagram: ”“I want it to make you feel like a kid in a decadent candy shop. Warm, inviting, delightful” - @definitleejenni describes her intention for Comme Si Brooklyn where form meets function, and every detail is carefully considered. The custom designed pieces are intended to showcase @commesi signature socks and loungewear, emphasizing the luxurious nature of the textiles. Together with designer @devanelias they imagined a microcosm of the Comme Si world. The centerpiece reveals drawers and secret compartments, each with a specific purpose. Drawers are lined with @kvadrattextiles @kvadratrafsimons to create an experience that is “similar to how you’re presented fine watches and jewelry” and a secretaire-inspired enclosure serves as a sewing station for monogramming loungewear. It’s the last month for the Comme Si store at Hudson Wilder in Dumbo. The space is design inspo heaven, and I love the sewing station for monogramming loungewear. Sign me up.
